The Salvation Army provides the most comprehensive range of social service programs of any organization in the Treasure Valley to help families and individuals seeking to rise above poverty and live selfsufficiently. They are committed to serving the whole person, body, mind and spirit, with integrity and respect, using creative solutions to positively transform lives without discrimination.
Mission: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
Development and Public Relations Director of the Nampa Location Marjorie Potter, was able to give more details about the organization and what they are doing in our community. She explained that the Salvation Army Community Family Shelter and Day Resource Center offers emergency housing, meals, shower and laundry services to homeless and low income families. She also pointed out that, once the families come to them, they begin to help them on a path to self-support and stability with their Rapid Re-housing program and wrap around services such as case management and life skills classes. The goal is to get them into and maintain a home of their own. She elaborated: "The Hubble Hero House represents a place that we would ultimately want our families to wind up in someday. It is a symbol of hope for a homeless family in need, that they can overcome poverty and have a better future. The generosity of Hubble Homes through the Hero House helps fuel our compassion. Thank you for helping us fill stomachs, house families and inspire smiles."
Mrs. Potter was also able to fill us in the details of what the money they will receive from the proceeds of our Hubble Hubble Hero House will be used for. She noted that the proceeds will support the three main areas of The Salvation Army’s service: the Community Family Shelter, the Nampa Food Pantry (Idaho Food Bank Partner), and the After school care and summer day camp program.
