Meet our Hubble Hero House Charities: The Idaho Foodbank
Today, we are introducing another one of the valley charities that will benefit from the proceeds of our Hubble Hero House: The Idaho Foodbank.
The Idaho Foodbank is an independent, donor-supported, nonprofit organization and is the largest statewide distributor of free food assistance in Idaho. The Idaho Foodbank was established in 1984 and since that time has distributed more than 243 million pounds of food through its facilities in Lewiston, Meridian and Pocatello. In the last fiscal year, The Foodbank provided food for more than 18.6 million meals to Idahoans living with food insecurity. The Foodbank distributes food through a network of more than 400 partners including schools, food pantries, senior centers, feeding sites, shelters, mobile pantries and churches. Recognizing the crucial connection between hunger and health, The Idaho Foodbank focuses on providing nutritious food and collaborates with community organizations to promote nutrition education, wellness tools and healthy living.
Mission: To help feed, educate, and advocate for Idaho’s hungry through collaborative partnerships to develop efficient solutions that strengthen individuals, families, and communities.
The Idaho Foodbank's Corporate & Community Relations Coordinator Whitney Stoolman is very excited about the donation: "We have a goal of providing food for 4.1 million meals during our Hope for the Holidays campaign, and the proceeds we’ll receive from this house will go a long way toward helping us reach that goal."
Ms. Stoolman was able to give us some more details on what the money they will receive from the sale of our Hubble Hero House will go toward. She explained: "The money we receive from this will support the distribution of nutritious food to our partner network, as well as our direct feeding programs such as Backpack, School Pantry, Mobile Pantry, and Senior Nutrition."
