Today’s economic circumstances require dual incomes for many families to survive. Many parents don’t have the option to stay home to care for their children. Boys & Girls Club is a community-based program that provides a safe and fun environment for children while parents are at work. It also offers an all-day summer care program, at little to no cost alleviating parents’ worries about school-aged children when parents can’t afford Childcare or feel they are too old for a babysitter. Thousands of local children and teens are left alone each day. These funds will expand services so Clubs can serve more children in Ada county and Canyon county.
Boys & Girls Clubs are special places for children of the community. Even the most “at risk” kids can feel not only welcomed but also wanted. Even more important, the Club is a place where all youth no matter their economic or social background, can develop a positive sense of self-worth and learn valuable personal and social skills. For some youth, it’s the first place they’ve felt a sense of hope and belonging in their lives. For others, the Boys & Girls Club relieves boredom and reinforces the goals and values taught at home in a fun and exciting atmosphere.
