Earth Day, Energy Efficiency and Hubble Homes

Posted: April 20, 2023 | Categories: News | Lifestyle

Our new homes include 3rd Party Inspection & Certification with both ENERGY STAR® and HERS® Certification and Rating. This means that your new Hubble Home meets strict energy efficiency guidelines and has been independently verified by certified professionals. ENERGY STAR® is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency program that sets energy efficiency guidelines for appliances, electronics, and homes. HERS (Home Energy Rating System) is a rating system used to measure a home's energy efficiency and performance.

To receive the ENERGY STAR® certification, your new Hubble Home must meet certain energy efficiency guidelines for insulation, windows, heating and cooling systems, and other features. Our homes are designed to be at least 10% more energy-efficient than homes built to standard building codes, and they can save homeowners hundreds or even thousands of dollars on their energy bills over the life of the home.

In addition to ENERGY STAR® certification, our new homes also receive a HERS rating. A HERS rating is a score that measures a home's energy efficiency on a scale from 0 to 150, with lower scores indicating greater energy efficiency. A HERS rater conducts a series of tests and inspections to determine a home's HERS score, including a blower door test to measure air leakage, a duct leakage test to measure HVAC system efficiency and an insulation inspection.

This means a new Hubble Home with ENERGY STAR® and HERS® certification and rating can provide many benefits to homeowners, including lower energy bills, improved comfort, better indoor air quality, and a reduced environmental impact. It ensures your home will save money and protect our climate through superior energy efficiency.

Hubble Homes, as a long-term partner of the Treasure Valley Canopy Network, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to increasing the urban tree canopy in the Boise metropolitan area, is excited about Earth Day. We are proud to be working together with the Treasure Valley Canopy Network to promote and protect the urban forest canopy.

Earth Day is a great opportunity to reflect on our impact on the planet and take action to protect the environment.  Why not start this weekend by planting an herb or veggie garden in your own backyard? This is a great way to celebrate Earth Day and contribute to a more sustainable and a healthier lifestyle. Not only will you be reducing your carbon footprint by growing your own food, but you will also be providing fresh, healthy produce for your family.
