Each year, the Idaho Humane Society receives more than 10,000 pets through their doors needing sheltering and adoption.

The Idaho Humane Society helped to prevent unwanted litters of puppies and kittens by spaying/neutering 10,275 pets – 4,797 shelter animals, 4,721 animals owned by community members, and 757 dogs and cats through our low-cost spay and neuter programs.

Education is a crucial component of the Idaho Humane Society’s mission to advocate for the welfare and responsible care of animals, protect them from neglect and cruelty, and promote humane awareness and compassion.

They strive to share the shelter’s mission and programs as well as teach younger generations about humane care for pets and safety around animals by offering programs for homeschoolers, public schools, and camps at the shelter.

The Idaho Humane Society (IHS) provided almost $2 million in discounted and free medical services to shelter pets and the pets of low-income families in our Veterinary Medical Center.

Mollie came to IHS from an underserved community in Idaho needing veterinary care. She had sustained a femur fracture and was littered with metal ammunition fragments. IHS provided surgery and Mollie has now found a new forever home!

Vision: Continue to grow and meet the demand to shelter, feed, provide medical attention to, and find adoptive homes for abandoned and abused animals in our community; to share information with Idahoans about the proper care of their own pets; to prevent animal overpopulation; and to promote kindness to animals. The Idaho Humane Society envisions a humane Idaho in which healthy and adoptable animals are no longer euthanized, and both domestic animals and wildlife are treated with compassion and respect.

Mission: Advocate for the welfare and responsible care of animals, protect them from neglect and cruelty, and promote humane education, awareness, and compassion.
